At what age should your child see an orthodontist?
The ideal age for a first visit is around 7 years, or as soon as the two permanent upper incisors have come out.
This first meeting does not necessarily imply the start of treatment. Above all, it enables the early detection of certain signs that may require early intervention. It's better to arrive a little earlier than too late: screening can anticipate more complex problems and guide jaw growth.
It's common practice in the Lausanne area for children to be seen at this age for a simple check-up, the orthodontist being in the best position to judge whether immediate follow-up is necessary or whether it can wait until adolescence.
