Why do dentists sometimes advise waiting until all the permanent teeth are out before doing anything?

This American approach, which is quite popular with dentists, recommends that all teeth be removed before any intervention, so that treatment can be carried out all at once. Unfortunately, this approach is somewhat simplistic, as it fails to take into account the full complexity of the situation.

Indeed, while some problems can be solved in adulthood, many others (palate size, jaw misalignment, etc.) must be addressed during growth. We could compare late intervention with correcting the trajectory of a train about to derail: the longer you wait, the greater the deviation and the more difficult it is to remedy.

In most cases, therefore, it is preferable to intervene early on malocclusion problems.
