Does health insurance cover orthodontic treatment in Switzerland?
Supplementary orthodontic insurance in particular can reimburse part of the treatment, provided it is taken out early enough, i.e. before the need for treatment is identified. The level of reimbursement depends entirely on the contract signed. To avoid any unpleasant surprises, it is advisable to choose coverage of around CHF 10,000 per year, so as not to have to make any compromises.
Basic health insurance (LAMal), on the other hand, only intervenes in very rare medical situations, such as impacted teeth or certain severe malformations.
