Does health insurance cover orthodontic treatment in Switzerland?

It is mainly orthodontic supplementary insurance that can cover part of the treatment, provided that it was taken out early enough, before the need for treatment was identified. The amount of reimbursement depends entirely on the contract. To avoid unpleasant surprises, it is advisable to choose coverage of about CHF 10,000 per year, which ensures no compromise on treatment quality.

Basic insurance (LAMal) only intervenes in very rare medical cases, such as impacted teeth or certain severe malformations.
